ARTICLE I: NAME
The name of this Club shall be The
Greenspring Poodle Club, Inc. (hereinafter called the Club).
ARTICLE II: HEADQUARTERS
The Headquarters of the Club shall be the residence of the
President and the official mailing address of the Club shall be the residence of
the Corresponding Secretary.
ARTICLE III: PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
Section 1. To encourage and promote the owning, breeding
and training of purebred Poodles and to do all possible to bring their natural
qualities to perfection.
Section 2. To advance the interests of the breed through
educational programs such as obedience training classes, handling classes,
clinics and seminars on genetics, grooming, inherited diseases, and other
informative media.
Section 3. To encourage and promote the exhibition of
Poodles in dog shows, obedience trials, and performance events where their
beauty, intelligence and capabilities can be recognized and acclaimed.
Section 4. To urge members and breeders to
accept and support the standard of the breed as approved by The American Kennel
Club as the only standard of excellence by which Poodles shall be judged.
Section 5. To conduct sanctioned matches and licensed
specialty shows and obedience trials under the Rules and Regulations of The
American Kennel Club.
Section 6. To promote and maintain the highest spirit of
cooperation and devotion to the principle of good sportsmanship among and by the
members, with The Poodle Club of America, The American Kennel Club and all other
organizations having similar purposes.
ARTICLE IV: NATURE OF BUSINESS
Section 1. The nature of business of the Club and the
purposes and objective to be transacted, promoted or carried on by it, shall be
done not for profit but exclusively for scientific and educational purposes, in
such manner that no part of the Club's income or property shall inure to the
benefit of any member or individual of the club.
ARTICLE V: MEMBERSHIPS
Section 1. Membership in this club shall be three kinds:
Regular, Honorary and Junior. Regular members shall consist of these persons who
(a) are in agreement with the purposes for which the Club has been formed; (b)
are in good standing with the American Kennel Club; (c) are at least 18 years of
age; (d) have bred, exhibited or judged any variety of Poodles; or (e) at the
time of making application for membership owns any Poodle, and any member of
such individual's immediate family is eligible to apply to become a member of
the Club upon election thereto as provided by these By-Laws. Honorary members
shall consist of those persons, not members of the Club, who have performed
special or distinguished service either to the Poodle Breed, or for this Club,
shall not pay annual membership dues and shall not be entitled to vote or hold
office. Junior members are persons at least 13 years of age and under 18 years
of age, who are interested in the purposes of this Club, but shall not be
entitled to vote or hold office.
Section 2. Application for Regular and Junior Membership:
(a) All applications for membership shall be made on the Club's application form
and returned to the Secretary- Every application for membership must be
supported by the written endorsement of two (2) Club members not related, in
good standing. No member shall submit more than four (4) letters of endorsement
of application for membership in any year. The initiation fees and dues are
payable after acceptance into the Club.
(b) Club Visitation: Any individual desiring membership in the Club must attend
at least two of its regular meetings or Club functions, excluding matches and
shows, before submitting an application for membership.
(c) Acting on Applications:
(1) The Membership Committee will review each application, together with all
endorsements and objections attendant thereto, and may conduct additional
investigation if deemed pertinent. The recommendation of the committee with
respect to each application will be submitted to the Board of Governors for
consideration.
(2) Any applicant for individual membership whose application has been
recommended to the Board of Governors by the Membership Committee may be
considered at any meeting of the Board. The affirmative vote of two-thirds of
the members present at the Board meeting shall be required to elect the
applicant to membership. The applicant and the endorsers of the applicant shall
be notified by the Membership Chairman or Secretary of the Board's vote.
(3) An application which has failed to receive the necessary two-thirds vote by
the Board may be presented for reconsideration by one of the applicant's
endorsers at the next regular meeting of the Club and such applicant may be
elected by a favorable vote of ninety percent of the members present.
(4) An applicant who has been rejected in such voting may be reconsidered for
membership upon the filing of a new application, and with the written
endorsement of two (2) Club members in good standing. Such application cannot be
filed until a period of one (1) year has elapsed since the date of his or her
prior application.
(d) Membership Cards: On payment of dues, membership cards for regular and junior members for the next
or new Club fiscal year will be provided. These membership cards will be signed
by both the Secretary and the President.
Section 3. Member in Good Standing:
A regular member in good standing, as used in these By-Laws, is one who meets
the requirements set forth in these By-Laws and is not under active
consideration by the Board for disciplinary action; and shall not have outstanding debts
payable to the Club more than 90 days after the date of the event for which such
debt was incurred.
Section 4. Honorary Membership:
The Board may create honorary memberships. Such honorary memberships may be
terminated after a given period or at the pleasure of the Board.
